PCSF proudly presents its award-winning annual anthology of short plays by local playwrights.
Welcome to PLAYOFFS, The Playwrights' Center of San Francisco's now 18-year tradition of showcasing short plays by member playwrights. Our 2015 show won a TBA award for Outstanding Production of an Anthology, our 2016 show was a finalist for the same award, and last year's show is a finalist again! This November we present a collection of eight excellent short plays: six selected by audience vote during three preliminary rounds of readings, and two chosen by the production team. Ranging from lighthearted and comedic to intense and moving, these plays encompass a variety of genres and styles.
This year's line-up includes: ALEXIS HAS THE ROOM by Ed Brownson. Porch thieves pick up an unexpected package. APPOINTMENT IN SONORA by David O. Stein. Migrant farmworkers have more than the government to fear. BETWEEN SCENES by Phillip Gerson. Working on a script and a relationship. CALL FORWARDING by Lorraine Midanik. Relationships can change on a BART ride to SFO. LAND OF FREEDOM by Bill Hyatt. Two souls in apocalyptic America seek a magical kingdom. LOGAN COMES OF AGE by Marsha Roberts. A 45-year-old mama's boy gets kicked out of the nest. THERE'S A NEW GODDESS IN TOWN by L "Z" Zephyr. The Pearly Gates will never be the same. TWELVE TWENTY FIVE by Lynn Aylward. Prisoners of the Taliban find a way to cope. This year's plays are directed by Carol Eggers and ShawnJ West and feature a talented ensemble cast: Floriana Alessandria, Cristhian Ayvar, Rasheed Custer, Robert Kittler, Cary Ann Rosko, Kim Saunders, and Scott Van de Mark.
